My Emotion Journal is an offline mood journal built around a wheel of 130 emotions.
Common questions
Does it need an account or internet connection?
No. The app works fully offline and has no sign-in of any kind.
Where is my journal stored?
On your device only, in a local database. It is never uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app
deletes your journal with it, so back it up first if you want to keep it — see the next
question.
How do I back up or move my journal?
Open an entry's History, use Export to generate a PDF report, or use Share to send a
.emotionjournal file to yourself (Messages, email, AirDrop, a cloud drive —
wherever your device's share sheet lets you send a file) as a private backup.
Someone sent me a journal file. How do I open it?
Tap the .emotionjournal file in Files, Mail, or wherever you received it, and
choose to open it with My Emotion Journal. It brings up an import screen before anything is
added to your own journal.
I installed this over the old Emotion Wheel app. What happened to my history?
It is imported automatically, once, the first time you open the new app — nothing to do on
your part.
Can I rename an emotion or add my own?
Yes. Open any emotion's detail screen to rename it, change its emoji, or hide it. You can
also add entirely new emotions of your own under any existing branch of the wheel.
Can I change the language?
Settings → Language. "System" follows your device.
How do I turn on the daily reminder?
Settings → Reminder. It is scheduled locally on your device.
